I think I started the protocal last night...when I ordered my "diane 35," it kept coming up at Anegen as estelle 35, so that's what I bought. Is that right?? After reading the insert, I'm a bit paranoid. Also, I slept pretty fitfully last night...is that anyone elses experience? If so, does it go away as you acclimate to the changed hormone levels? Curious and sleepless in Eugene <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

The Diane 35 is no longer the bcp used for the protocol. It is Yasmin. If it is making you feel funny I would say hold off on taking it and please email Lenore. The link for her address is at the bottom left of the page.

Well, I haven't heard back from Lenore, so I'll post an update. I'm still taking the "diane/estelle 35" until I hear otherwise. I'm back to sleeping fine, but I'm touchy in a variety of ways. My breasts are swelling quickly, which gives me hope that I'll have more milk than last time. I do wonder if I can switch bcp's along the way if indeed I should be using something besides the diane. I hate to waste that much money by throwing them out now or in a few weeks if and when I could get something else. I plan to keep going on the protocal bcp's until June, unless we get the call sooner for a babe...last time we got three weeks notice after five months. So, I have 60 active pills left and I'll either have to reorder or switch pills. Anyone else switch mid-protocal?

women do switch mid protocol. Usually because of no breast changes. As long as you don't stop one pill and fail to start the other one right away it is fine to switch. The reason they quit using the diane 35 is for health concern reasons. I believe Diane35 increased risk of DVT's (deep vein thrombosis or blood clots in the leg) You can order the Yasmin and just switch as soon as you get it. You don't have to finish the 60 pills you have. I hope that answers your questions. I am sure you will hear from Lenore soon.

Hi Tamara,
I never received your email but luckily I was checking the message boards just now and saw this thread. Lalle is abolutely correct. We no longer recommend the use of Diane 35 due to a recent link between this medication and a higher than average increase in the incidence of deep vein thrombosis (blood clots). Please take the Diane back to your pharmacy or if you received it from a website, ask them to take it back and to replace it with either Yasmin or Ortho 1/35 ASAP. As long as you don't miss a day on your birth control pills you should be fine with the switch.
If you are not allergic to Asprin, please go to the pharmacy NOW and get some baby aspirin. Take one a day. This should help to ward off a DVT until you can switch your pills but it's not a guarantee. The Diane has been linked to an 8 fold increase in the incidence of DVT's.
Are you also taking the domperidone? Most moms use a starting dose of 10 mg 4 times per day for the first week and then increase to 20 mg 4 times per day.
Warmest regards,

Thanks Lenore! I just got my e-mail to you back...it said it timed out. Oops.
Eight-fold sounds pretty serious...The boxes of BCP's got pretty smashed in the mail, so I'd be surprised if they took them back. It was only two boxes to begin with, so I think I'm stuck with them.
Where can I order Yasmin or the Ortho through the mail? My gyn. is overbooked, so I have to pretty much educate him on everything every time I go in...I'm tired of paying for the visits and we never get anywhere because he's never done the research he said he would. So, I'm ordering on-line.

www.getthepill.com or www.globaldrug.tvBUT, please let your doctor know what you're doing so you can be monitored. Warmest regards,

Thanks! I'll switch to Yasmin as soon as they arrive. I'm very physically active, so I'm not too worried and I have my ND keeping an eye on things. And yes, I'm also taking the dom.
