Over the past week or so, my 13 week old DD while nursing will pull off and latch on, pull off and latch on, and so on, several times during nursing.

Once in a while she fusses, but most of the time she just keeps doing it without complaining! Now that she's 3 months old she's interested in so many other things that if I just stop nursing and hold her, she complains for a few seconds and then doesn't seem to mind.

Has anyone experienced this, and what does it mean? Is she trying to get a let down? If so, it usually doesn't work! Thanks.

Hi Helen,

Congratulatioins on your new baby! It could be that something in your baby's mouth is bothering her or she's trying to get you to let down faster. You may want to try breast compressions to assist milk flow. If that has the opposite effect, she may be dealing with too fast a flow in which case you can try leaning back while breastfeeding.

Start with this and let me know how it goes.

Best,
