Hello I have some questions I had to stop the bcp because it made me very moody and I talked to my IBCLC and she told me that I needed to stop the domperidone until I was ready to start another protocol when I stopped the domperidone I started lactating hubby notticed last night and by compresion milk does come out nice white color. I guess that my question is that even when I have stopped the domperidone will I still be able to lactait or will I have to start taking it all over again??? I am buying a really good pump from my IBCLC and am hopping that it will help produce all the milk that I need for our baby's arrival I have started taking blessed thistle and feenugreek because I know that these two herbs together help the lactation progress as well I am also a nanny and the people I work for there daughter is still nursing and I can help my supply build up with nursing her. I would stay on the dom and just start pumping now. When is your baby in sight? I can' t remember. But if you are getting milk keep taking the dom and just pump and freeze until the baby gets here. How long were you on the bcp total?

Hello Lalle it is really wierd I stopped the bcp because it made me moodier than hell and I could not work like that. My baby us not due until November 12th my IBCLC told me stop everything because I had to call the doctor for a pill to stop my bleeding it was out of control I only took the active birth control pills of the ortha trycycling for one month I was very surprised to see the milk drops. My IBCLC said that my doctor probubly would perscribe something with pergesterone in it well when I called for a pill to stop the bleeding I told him that I was trying to lactait and so he perscribed me something that did not hace pergesterone in it. I started taking the dom again but I am concerned since I started taking it again the milk is still a very small amount I am trying to get a good pump the one I have does not get enough hubby is trying to help but last night he could not get any milk!! So am I going to have to go on the Yasmin and do the accelerated protocol I don't want to loose what I am already getting even if it is just a small amount or would it be helpfull to do the accelerated protocol I am just worried about the bleeding situation again and the cramps are are just terrible I can't even get out of bed my cramps are so bad. Well there are a couple more questions my breasts are very tender when they are just hanging free and I think that they are bigger and they feel full but I don't know this is my first go around with this and I know to get a supply it takes time it just is difficult to wait thanks for answering my questions here are some more thanks!!!! tia, if you have to stay off the bcp right now and your baby isn't due until Nov. Then maybe the right answer is to stop everything. Give your body a rest. When the time gets closer you could go on the accelerated with the Yasmin and Dom for the shorter time frame then stop the Yasmin and pump for a couple weeks or a month until your baby is born.
Let's see what Lenore says. She is really better at the more individual needs when people run into snags.

I'm curious to know why you were taking the Ortho Tricyclen? It doesn't have nearly enough progesterone which is likely the cause of all that bleeding. The birth control pill we recommend is Ortho 1/35. This often happens when the attending doctor dose not understand that the birth control pill portion of the protocol is not for contraception, it's to build the milk making apparatus of your breasts.

At this point, if you cannot obtain the appropriate birth control pill, our suggestion is to begin pumping and maintain your domperidone. If you start pumping now with a good electric breast pump you should be in decent shape by the time your baby arrives. Your husband means well but it's impossible for an adult male to simulate the action of either a newborn or a pump because his mouth is simply too large and it's full of teeth. He can only apply negative pressure via suction and not the positive pressure required by either the baby's jaws or the pump.

In your case I would highly recommend the PJ junior breastpump by Limerick Inc. available through Joan.Ortiz@limerickinc.com This pump has flexible breastshields that exert positive and negative pressure. It's also not expensive compared to other suitable electric breastpumps.

Please start pumping as soon as possible because the longer you wait, the more ground you'll lose that you have worked so hard to gain.

After you have been pumping for two weeks, report back and we'll re-assess ok? You'll be feeling better by then and we will still have time to decide if you need further hormonal stimulation. And as always, please discuss all of this with your doctor.

Lenore I went to the doctor today and he said that because of my PCOS that I will continue to have problems with the bleeding the bleeding was so out of control that a pill had to be called in to stop the bleeding so today he said that I had to make a choice lactate or continue with sever bleeding unless I am still able to produce milk while taking another form of bcp I do not know what to do I am just really at a loss my mother almost died 10 years ago from hemerging and I am scared I have ended up in the hospital twice from severe bleeding my life and time on earth with my child is more important to me than anything else in the world and if that means that I have to feed the baby it's birth mom's breastmilk fora while I am fine with that she has already agreed to pump. I just saw your post in the Buy/Sell/Trade section that you sold your domperidone. I'm confused because you're asking about the birth control pill but the whole thing is pointless if you don't have domperidone to use with it. Or at the very least, domperidone alone and pumping.

Ok, well having said that, in the interest of clarity regarding the bleeding issue, I can tell you from my own experience with bleeding due to uterine fibroids that as soon as I stopped the birth control pill, maintained the domperidone, and started pumping and/or breastfeeding I didn't see my period or a spot of blood for nearly 3 years.

I started pumping in August 2003 and I got my period yesterday for the first time after Ethan weaned about a month ago and I went off the domperidone.

It appears that domperidone raised my prolactin level and that together with pumping was enough to stem the red tide.

I should also mention that there are several moms with PCOS who followed the protocol as recommended and ended up spontaneously pregnant. Two of these mothers had the same doctor. It was his opinion that the protocol somehow reset their ovaries.

But you have to do what's right for you. Please talk this all over with your doctor. I wouldn't want anything to happen to you. Your health is more important.

There is still yet another alternative. You can always breastfeed with the help of a supplementary feeding tube at the breast www.lact-aid.com. Over time your milk will come in slowly but it will come in just the same.

Tia, I am wondering if the health care providers you are seeing are really understanding the whole protocol you were trying to do. Or for that matter if you are understanding it. I say this because of all the back and forth and confusion we have had here. And now through this thread we find that you weren't even on the correct birth control. The protocol is designed to work with the meds and supplements that are laid out in it. There really are no substitutes. So if someone is going to do the protocol they need to pick which one is best for them (long term or accelerated) and then follow it to a tee. I hope this doesn't come out wrong I am just trying to point out that maybe all your starts and stops as well as taking a different kind of bcp maybe part of why you have had such problems. Please if you consider doing either protocol again make sure that you fully understand it as well as your healthcare providers. Because otherwise it is somewhat pointless to try it and can be detrimental to your body as you have seen.
Like Lenore points out you can always use the supplementer and you could do the natural methods. That is what I did initially and I did produce some milk.

Lalle I went to an IBCLC and gave her prints out of the protocols both of them there was pleanty of information for her and she said that she was also going to look at it more extensively all the medications are named in the protocols as well as mgs for all medication involved I have not just stopped the protocol on my own I have now been told by 2 healthcare provideders to stop the domperidone and one has perscribed a different bcp so that I will stop bleeding I have been bleeding nonstop since April 2nd I am getting a little concerned I am tierd of bleeding. I have done everything in my power that I could to hold tight to the protocol I stopped the ortha because I was out of control I was willing to start the accelerated protocol when my doctor that deals with my PCOS yesterday told me right now it will be in my best interest to stop the domperidone. I still have 5 months before my baby is here if my bleeding is better down the road I always have the accelerated protocol to handle right now I have to do what is best for me I will be no good to my husband or to my baby if I am DEAD and right now I have to be very carefull I have had 5 cryo surgeries do to abnormaties on my cervix my mother had a histarectamy about 10 or 11 years ago and when they did the test on her uterus she had cancerus cells inside of her uterus I do not even know the history of my biological fathers mediacal history of my family members on his side. It is not that I have not wanted or have not stuck to the protocol now I am looking at more serious issues I have to go in for another ultra sound on my pelvic and ovaries because the doctor is afraid that my PCOS is starting to get worse and that I may have more complications. Right now I am scared I am stopping the protocol for now if in a couple months things are looking up I will reconsider doing the protocol but for now I need to do what is right for my health!!! I understand all of that Tia and I agree your health is important. What I don't understand is how you ended up on the wrong BCP? Ortho Tricyclene is not what is used for the protocol like Lenore pointed out it doesn't have the right levels. The domperidone is NOT a bcp and should have nothing to do with the bleeding issues you are having. So that also makes no sense to me why your doctor would have you stop that.
I do agree you need to get your health on target that is why I initially said maybe you should give your body a break. I was simply pointing out the confusion with the protocols that seems to have occured and wanted to make sure if you do one in the future you make sure your healthcare providers understand totally what is you are needing and are trying to accomplish.
