Hi All,

My husband and I were recently selected by a bmom who gave birth to a baby girl on July 11. She has set an appointment to sign relinquishment papers on Monday, 7/24. The baby is currently in cradle care until we can get to Ohio. I assume that I will stop taking the bc pill on Monday, and use the lact-aid until my milk supply is established. Is that correct? The baby has been formula fed while in cradle care.

Dedicated, What great news! Yes, you are right stop the bcp keep taking the dom. You also add in the herbs at this time. I would start pumping every 2-3 hours until you have baby in your arms. Then you will nurse her with the lact-aid and you can pump afterward. Double pump 10 minutes if you are able. Make sure you set up an appt with an IBCLC to ensure you have a good latch.

This is WONDERFUL news!! Lalle has given you excellent advice. It's a good idea to be prepared for red tape at he hospital. They don't often allow adoptive parents to breastfeed there. But don't let this stress you out. Just do what you have to do until your baby is in your arms and in your home.
