I was just wondering when I can wean off the domp. I did the regular protocol, my baby will be one month tomorrow and is exclusivly breastfeeding. She is gaining weight and doing great so I don't think there is a problem with my milk supply at all, we have used four bottles but I pumped them each time. Sometimes if she doesn't nurse well at a feeding then I pump and am still getting about three ounces out of each side in 5 minutes of pumping. Anyways, I would like to wean off the domp if I could, does anyone know if this will hurt my milk supply? I am not ready to stop breastfeeding at all, I want to continue as long as I can. Please let me know your thoughts/opinions.

You can drop one dosage and see how you do. Some have tried and done okay with less dom I am not sure if we have a had any Moms completely wean off the dom and keep their milk. Do you have 10mg tabs or 20mg? Are you taking the herbs too?

I have the 20 mg pills and I take four a day and I am taking BT three tablets three times a day and Fenugreek three tabs three times a day. I don't want to do anything that may hurt my supply, I am just sick of paying for the pills each month.
One other thing Lalle, is it better to nurse on one side each feeding or both? I still can't decide and sometimes I think my daughter does better with one side per feeding.

You know I tried the one side only with my last natural born child and I didn't like it. It is very important to empty both breasts every feeding. So if you are only nursing on one side you should be pumping the other. Tell me what things make you feel she does better on one side only?

As for the dom I would keep taking it at the dose you are at. At least for awhile longer. If you want to cut out something you could cut back on the herbs. That will save you a small amount of money.

Where are you getting your dom? I just went to globaldrug.tv and all of theirs is 10mg. YOu may want to get the 10mg next order and then you could drop one pill at a time and see how your supply does. instead of knocking out a whole 20mg up front. Plus your baby is coming up on 6 weeks which is the first growth spurt and will be eating more so I would not cut anything out right now.

I tried to wean of the Dom last month, and got down to taking 20 mg once a day when I noticed (or imagined, I'm not sure) my supply being affected. I went back on the full dosage. I don't want to risk it.

I always empty both breasts becasue I am nursing triplets. I usuall yhave to nurse two on the right becasue for some reason the left only produces enough for one baby per feeding.

I feel like she does better with one side because she will be nursing so well and then after about 15-20 minutes if I stop her then she won't eat on the other side. Or if I stop her after 10 minutes and switch sides she will often only eat for like three or four more minutes. I am going to work on 10 minutes a side, she won't do more then that. She eats so fast and her weight gain is awesome. She was 6.9lbs when she was born and was 8.9lbs yesterday, she was 1 month Sat. I think what I am doing is OK, I am not going to wean off anything, I don't want to risk any drops in supply.

Thanks,
