I am so happy to be breastfeeding our baby. He is 6 days old now and is doing very well. We are supplementing with a bottle after bfing. I tried to use the sns and I hate it. I couldnt get coordinated enough with it. He bfs and then we give him 1 oz of formula. Sometimes he drinks the whole ounce and sometimes he dont. So we figure that he is getting half of what he needs from me. He has really made my milk come in just a week ago I was pumping a half of an ounce a day.
The other night I was really tired and asked my dh to just give him a bottle and he would not take it. I had to bf him!!! It actually felt pretty good to know that he wanted me.

We usually do not recommend bottle feeding before 6 weeks in order for your milk supply to become well established and for your baby to become efficient at breastfeeding. I know the SNS is a pain but try inserting it in the corner of baby's mouth after you have latched. You may find it easier. Try not to insert farther than an inch.
