I was reading the protocols and wondered if one can build up enough milk without yasim? My understanding is milk is based on a supply and demand need too ...however, on the post here, it says you won't produce that much milk without following the protocols or on the accelerated plan. I guess my question is, how much has anyone pumped or produce without yasim? I am taking the herbs and Dom..I just never took the yasim. Thanks for your input

Sorry to say I haven't known anyone to produce much more than an ounce or 2 without the protocol. The protocol builds your breast tissues. I did not have much sucess with the Yasmin. I switched to the Ortho-Ovum 1/35 and taking provera 2.5 daily with it. I am having HUGE changes going on.

I'm not able to take Yasmin and I've been wondering if my supply will continue to build. It is increasing but OMG it's slow! I started with barely visible tiny dots of fluid then that turned to droplets of milk. Now I get squirting! It's taken 2.5months to get this far and I still don't produce even 1ml at a session. I posted recently to say how dispondent I've been feeling but I don't want to give up. I'm hoping that the baby suckling will increase my supply but I will certainly need the Lactaid.

How many of us are doing this without the Yasmin? It's great to talk!

I am in the same boat as you. I've been at it about 6 weeks and have the squirting thing but pumping is minimal. I hope there is someone here that can tell us good news and has had success without the yasmin.

In my last adoptive breastfeeding experience; it was a spur of the moment decision after I got the baby as I didn't realize that you could initiate BF with an older baby (in my case almost a year old). I took domperidone and herbs and pumped. The milk did come very slowly and took about 4 months to build to be able to pump about 3oz a day plus whatever baby took in sucking on the Lact Aid.

It was very frustrating. I know some women do get more with dom and pumping alone but obviously not me. I did pump 8-9x a day too with a good pump.

This time; I decided to do the Accelerated Protocol with Yasmin and dom. I was very nervous about using BCP but I've done over 30 days and feel just fine other than the annoying breakthrough bleeding and some minor cramping (bearable side effects)

I have no idea how much milk I will make but I'm really glad I decided to try it this way. I'm pretty sure I'll do better than last time anyway. I plan to stay on at least 60 days and possibly 80 before stopping.

I'm just sharing this as I was such a nervous person about Yasmin.

Bunnykims it sounds like you are already increasing. I am sure once baby gets to the breast you will see a big increase. I don't honestly know if you will produce all of your babies needs. But any milk you make (and you are already making some) will be of benefit to your child. Just keep doing what you are doing. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I started off with out any protocol and did produce milk just using herbs and dom and nursing with a lact-aid. I did no pumping or prepping before my DD arrived. I was making about 1/3 to 1/2 of what she was eating after just a month or so. I did go on the accelerated later on and we got rid of the lact-aid entirely but by that time she was also eating solids and drinking from a cup. I know there are a number of women who for medical reasons cannot take the pill. Just remember your success is not simply measured by the amount of milk you produce. Thanks for your support Lalle. I will feel so much better when I have enough to start freezing. A friend is donating milk to us so I can use that in the Lactaid so our baby has the best from the start. Lenor has been great about advising us on this. Actually, even the managers of the few breast milk banks we have over here are quite encouraging about us using donated milk, off the record of course! Everyone's afraid of being sued!

We have about three months until our daughter arrives and I can't wait to put her to the breast and start the feeding process. It will be a wonderfully bonding experience.
