My son we are adopting through an open private adoption is due anytime in the next 3 weeks. I took the Yasmin for 30 days, then started pumping with a Symphony 2 days ago. I get about a teaspoon total at each pumping, but it is a cloudyish, yellowish liquid. Not white, yet. Should I still be saving this? Is there any nutritional value, since I know it can't be colostrum? When does the white begin?

Thank you!

Hi,

The answer is yes save as much as you can.I believe this is the Colostrum which is very good for your baby. Mine was much like you described almost thick like honey. I pumped and saved as much as I could when nursing my dd who is now 4 1/2. Your Colostrum has lots of nutrients.

I just copied this from the protocol site: It begins with clear drops, which become more opaque and whiter in color. Drops will appear, followed by milk spray, and then a steady stream of breastmilk.

Hope this helps,
Maria

I put as much of it in the same freezer bag that way the baby got it all at one time. Anything is better than nothing.

Colostrum isn't produce by inducing lactation. Only with a natural pregnancy. But, still save it, it is good milk.

Lalle is right. Its not colostrum. BUT it does more immunities in it in away like colostrum. But only women who have given birth makes colostrum.

I used syringes with caps when my milk first started. I would just put the syringe in the fridge until full. Then I would freeze the syringes. You can get 1 cc syringes and 3,5,10,20,30. A 30cc syringe is just a smiggen over 1 ounce. I used the 1 ,3 and 5 cc syringes before I started layering the milk in a 2 ounce storage bottle.
