I guess it depends on the hospital. My surrogate was in the hospital with PTL (luckily, they were able to stop it), and the hospital staff was very receptive to the whole idea. The NICU nurse was encouraging me to keep pumping, and told me that once the babies are born I will have access to the on-staff LC they have in the NICU.
It was funny because I didn't even volunteer the fact that I was attempting to induce lactation, they asked me as if they assumed that of course I would be. The question was along the lines of, "are you already pumping your breasts?"
I hope your hospital is equally as forward thinking.
