A couple of days ago I got up in the morning, set up to pump and there was very little suction. My husband took it apart, blew out the rubber balloon thingy inside and put it back together. It is better but doesnt seem to be sucking as good as it used to. I have it on full sucking power and full speed. Before, I couldnt have it on full sucking power.

ANy ideas? Could it be the vacuum balloon thing? How much are they to replace them?

We are travelling soon so i really dont want it to die on me while we are away!

Have you replaced the membranes? They are the white thin plastic piece that fits into the yellow piece in each horn assembly. They need to be replaced about every 3 months. You can pick them up at Babies R Us, a breastfeeding store or you can order them online from Amazon.

It would be unusual to have a problem with the pump, but it can happen. Try replacing the membranes first and then call Medella Customer Service if it still isn't strong enough suction.

Good luck!!

I was going to suggest the membranes too. Sometimes I wouldn't notice and they would be off a little and it totally affects suction.

yes, thats what I figured it was. I inquired about them today at our pharmacy that sells medela products. She was going to look into it for me but good to know that they can be found at babies r us. The PIS only has one though, not two membranes.
