We have just been notified that we have been matched with a baby that is due NOW. The mother has not gone into labor yet but it is an any day kind of thing.
I am not sure what I need to do to be able to breastfeed successfully. I started taking domperidone this morning and Yasmin. I know the short protocol is 30 days. so what do I do until then?
I do have a lact aid system, that I could use but I was wondering if that would mess with the protocol.
We have bought bottles that are suppose to be very breast-like but I am worried that we wont be able to switch to breastfeeding.

Any help would be great!!!

I do believe you can use the lactaid to nurse in the meantime. If you decide to use bottles, maybe try with the lactaid at least once a day, just to get her used to nursing. Good luck!

Hi,
We had our daughter arrive at our doorstep. I started the protocol 10 days after she was born, and used SNS while I was on the protocol. I was very sore, but when I finished the 30 days I had drops! Plus my DD was use to latching on to me, not a bottle. I was very frustrated with the SNS and switched to the lact aid which was WAY better. I could make up the bags ahead of time and store them in the fridge.

This can be done! And I was able to EBF until DD was 14 months. Good luck!
