Just wondering.... Is there any benefit to doubling the hormone if one only has 30 days to be on it before starting to pump? Especially if it's only for a very short time.....

I'm currently prepping for a new arrival sometime mid to late January (EDD is Feb 3, but the last 2 have come 2 weeks early), am over 35, and am on Provera 2.5mg plus 20 mg dom 4x/day.

I induced lactation somewhat for our 15 month old and nursed her with the help of LactAid for about 6 months... but since she was already here when I decided to nurse, I just went straight to the dom, herbs, and oatmeal. I "maybe" produced around 2 oz a day.... I'd really like to be able to get more milk for this one. My youngest natural born is 16 and with him, I tandem nursed him and his sister and still made a gob of extra milk (I could always pump at least 2 8 oz bottles a day even after they nursed) so I know that I "can" make lots of milk.... Or at least I could!

So anyway.... just posting a random question that popped into my head after thinking on this quite a bit.

I don't think we could answer this. I would ask Lenore or Dr. Newman this question. I didn't use the provera, I used a bcp as part of the protocol and I was on it while we were waiting, so much longer.

Good luck!

I think that your doctor would better answer that question. I think that Lenore and Dr Newman have to be very conservative in what they can suggest over the Internet. You are not their patient that they see in their office where they know your medical history and blood work. My doctor was able to prescribe for me a hormonal protocol that Lenore and Dr Newman no long recommend.
