Hi Ladies,

I stopped using the lactaid last week. It was a frustrating 4 weeks for me and I finally decided it wasn't worth the stress it was causing. So, we're bottle feeding now, but I am still pumping and getting about 5 ounces per day for Heidi. I also put her to the breast through out the day and she sucks and I can hear her swallowing! But it's usually not enough to satisfy. She gets such a great latch, I just couldn't do it with the tube as well, and she never did open her mouth very wide. Anyways. I feel in the past few days that my supply is increasing...I think I *might* have even felt a letdown! So, now that things are FUN and ENJOYABLE I feel good about what I've done. I know that it is a great feat to have provided milk for my baby!

Just wanted to update!

Hi Elaine,

Thank you so much for this inspirational and heartwarming post. Sometimes we forget what this is all for....nurturing our babies at the breast. Milk supply is important but it's not "everything". You have more than enough to satisfy all of your baby's immune requirements. Enjoy your baby, the rest will take care of itself. You're doing great!!!

Abby,

I just wanted to say thanks for your post! You're right, sometimes I get caught up in the "I need more milk" game, but I think much of that was because I hated fighting with the lactaid. Now that I'm not worrying about that, it's not as important to me as the snuggles I get from Heidi as she nurses.
