Hi all,

I am so enormously indebted to everyone that responds to me during this trial by fire Mommy time! Thank you.

I think my supply is tanking. Ben is a weak suckler with a good latch. He doesn't really take off until the lact aid is in and the thing is flowing. I am trying to pump after feeds, maybe three times a dya...but, honestly, between making and cleaning the lact aids feeding and trying to sleep....it is really hard to get pumps in.

Any thoughts?

Other than this, Ben is thriving and breaking my heart everyday with how lovely he is and how much i love him....i never knew I could love like this.

Thank for your help,

eden

Eden, Keep doing what you are doing. Remember, nursing with the lactaid is still nursing, so don't feel bad that you need it. I did not pump at all while nursing my Joshua-- just did not have the time-- and it still went ok. You will get quicker fixing the lactaids day by day. Hang in there! Isn't falling in love with your baby heavenly??

Hi Eden,

When you have a baby at the breast, milk supply goes UP not down. Please contact a board certified lactation consultant IMMEDIATELY. You can find one here: www.iblce.org She'll help to make sure your baby is adequately latched. Remember, your baby can look to you to be well latched and not actually be efficiently withdrawing milk from you.

You can turn this situation around quickly if you get help. Hang in there.

Fondly,
