Hi Everyone,
In a post Mary wrote to Bella she gave the suggestion of: "One other thing that helps me a LOT is to dissolve the dom under my tongue. When I do that, my supply is unfailingly better."
I was wondering if anyone else had tried this and what your experience is? Anyone know why? I know domperidone is a gastrointestinal medicine used to treat serious vomitting. I would have thought this medicine needed to be absorbed in our intestines to work?
Mary, thanks for the tip, I started doing this, anything to get my milk supply back to the 1oz mark before Monday.
hugs, Jean
1 week ~ 10ml
2 weeks ~20ml
3 weeks ~ 30ml
4 weeks ~ 45ml
5 weeks - back to ~30ml after 2 days w/o serious pumping

My observation is just anecdotal, of course. But I do know that you have a lot of blood vessels very close to the surface under your tongue, soit makes sense that this gets more of the medication directly into your bloodstream. In general when highest potency is needed, the in-the-bloodstream route is preferred--- IV antibiotics vs. oral antiobiotics, etc.... Hope yje under-the-tongue trick helps you out too!

Thanks Mary,
Actually, to my delight, my first pumping (which is always my best because I don't get up during the night) this morning was great, got just under 1 oz, seems like the dom under the tounge for a day really turned things around!!!!
Bella and Melissa, have you tried this yet? Did it increase your supply?
I'll report at the end of the day if I've finally made it to 50ml
hugs, Jean

Jean, glad you are seeing an increase even if slight right now. How many times a day do you pump? How many hours from your last pump till the first one in the morning?
Oh and how exciting that you will be holding your baby in the next few days! <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Hi Lalle,
Thanks for your good wishes. To answer your questions, I pump between 6 and 8 times a day (most days). I get 8 hours of sleep at night (at least before my baby arrives).
I have A LOT of sleep problems. I tried to do the 2-3am pumping but I was exhausted and decided it was better for me to be well rested before the baby gets here and hope that his cries and the lact-aid increase my milk supply.
And for me, returning to the 1oz mark is amazing. I may even get 2oz today. I will admit the domperidone is bitter tasting, but worth it.
hugs, Jean

Woo Hoo Jean. 2 OZ that is fantastic! You are right, once your baby arrives you will be up and down most of the night. I learned to nurse lying down with the lact-aid when my daughter was nursing. That way Ididn't lose too much sleep. But it wasn't until she was about a month old. Before that I just sat in chair. Some women prop up on pillows and nurse sitting up in bed so they can dose. I can't wait to hear how things go once you are nursing. I know you are going to do terrific. I was just telling my husband how impressed I am with all of you IM's who are going through so much for your little ones. Not to lessen anyone elses work it is all to be commended. Blessings to you. Laurie

Jean,
I have not tried this yet. I am taking capsules right now and I don't think they would desolve very easily. I could probably take them apart, but I am nearly done with them and my next batch is in tablet form so I'll be able to try it then. Probably by the time I get to Armenia. I sure do hope it helps! And quickly too! <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Wow! That's wonderful news Jean! I'll certainly try that when I start pumping, if it works then it's worth doing it! I truly believe you will absolutely excel in producing enough milk for your baby! <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" />
