I don't know why, but I was under the impression that once you dropped the bc, your milk would *come in* like it does after birth, but in a lesser quantity. I have come to assume that the process is very slow. No wonder I was discouraged. So, now that I know the increase is quite gradual, is there any indication of how much a person will be able to produce? I have been pumping since Nov. 15, and get 1oz from the morning pumping, and less after that. My baby nurses with the supplementer every feeding, and I pump several times a day as well. Should I expect my milk to keep increasing? Also, how long should I keep the "feed baby then pump after every feeding" schedule? Thanks for your replies!

purplek, did you ever buy a different pump? How old is your baby? I looked back to a different thread and you were only pumping 5ml then so you have made some good strides. How long you feed & then pump is up to you. Your breasts are getting stimulation while feeding with the supplementer. How much supplement is baby taking and is it formula or donated or frozen milk.

Hello Lalle,
I rented the Symphony a week ago. Baby is 6 weeks old and drinks 3 oz from the supplementer every 3 hours or so. He gets both donated breast milk and formula. I'm still working on the "pooping" issue too. It's like the formula stops him up. Anyway, my friend only wants to pump another 2 months for her baby, so I'm doing everything I know of to increase my supply.Do women tend to keep increasing their supply on the protocol or do they reach a maximum? Thank you for your help.

most people keep increasing to meet most if not all of baby's needs. You are definitely seeing an increase. I would keep pumping after at least for awhile. Are you freezing the milk you are getting or using right away. Anyway, you can evaluate where you are at in another month, but you are doing great right now. 5ml is a tsp an ounce is way more than that.

I use the milk right away. And, I only get an ounce (total) for the morning pumping. It's less than that for subsequent pumpings. But, I have hope for much more! As long as pumping will help make more, I'm willing.

I think that is great. An ounce in the morning after morning feeds is good. If you are willing to keep pumping I say go for it. The more stimulation the more production.

HI LAURIE..I am pumping 3 times per day..and getting 1.5 oz per time out of both breasts. I am taking Domperidone , 2 pills , 4 times per day. I was taking 4 pills, 3 times per day. My Dr wanted me to decrease the amt, as she does not want me to have a stroke or a heart Attack. So, I did decrease the amt of Domperidone to what I am taking now. Will that be enough to keep my milk supply up? Or , if I pump more than 3 times per day, will I increase my supply? Bradley is on Similac Advance formula,, donated Breastmilk, and my milk such as it is. I am having a hard time finding time to pump,, and take care of him,,and my other kids as well. thanks for any help. Lisa Culp

the amount you have decreased to is what we recommend. So I think it will be fine. The more you pump the more you will produce. Keep it up you are doing great!!!
