I am a little concerned with my supply. Maybe my expectations are off. I've been pumping for 6 weeks and I've seen no increase over the last month. I only get about 2 to 3 oz total per day. One woman I know was able to pump 15 oz in one day. Should I not expect to see an increase until our baby comes home? Should I go crazy trying to pump more often...say every 2 hours and twice at night? Will this make a difference or just stress me out?
I have four children at home and we are getting ready to travel to Africa to pick up our child and I'm not sure I can keep up this regimen.

Thanks,
Emily

Emily I would just keep doing what you are. Once you get your child to the breast I am sure you will see an increase. No need to wear yourself out right now.

HI laurie.. How do I increase my supply.. I have been nursing Bradley for 6 mo now.. and pumping 3 times per day.. and I get about 1 -1.5 oz per pumping.. so, how do I increase my milk?? he is on a nursing strike now.. and he is bitting me too! he has not nursed for a week or more.. and I have been pumping and giving him the milk in a bottle . But, I am sad that he will not comfort nurse anymore. I do not want to stop breastfeeding him. I am menopausal..and only about to get that small amt of milk, so I get donor milk of 2. 6oz bottles per day and give him that as well as Similac Advance formula. so, he is drinking about 25 oz per day somtimes more. I need help! and thanks for any ideas! Lisa and Bryan C

Lisa I would get a lact-aid system and get rid of the bottle. What bottles are you using? We recommend Avent with the #1 slow flow nipple. Milk is so much easier to get out of a bottle than the breast he may not want to work for it. The lact-aid will mean he is getting his milk while nursing at your breast. You can put either the donor milk or formula in the lact-aid. Try nursing him when he is sleepy and not super hungry.

Sorry to barge...but I had a question...

Laurie ~ You mentioned that you all recommend the avent with #1 slow flow nipple if bottles are needed...I don't believe that avent bottles are BPA-free. Do you have a good BPA-free option?

Thanks!
Erin

I was not familiar with BPA so I looked it up. Adiri has a non toxic nurser with a stage 1 slow flow nipple. I didn't use bottles so I wasn't familiar with the BPA issue. All the more reason to breast feed, right? There are other companies as well. I am not familiar with them but finding one similar in style to Avent in a stage 1 slow flow would be good.

you can read one article here http://www.foxreno.com/news/11126871/detail.html#

HI Laurie.. How do I heat the lact-aid and fill that when he is hungry?? and I have a teen age son who is at our house every other weekend... and how do I go anywhere with the lact aid and have to take all that stuff along ? I did talk to the lact aid lady that her husband invented it.. and she was very nice. But, I am worried about how to really do the lact aid and have to go anywhere away from home. I fill his bottles for the day in the earily morning..and then keep them in the frig for the day.. and I give him 2 6 oz bottles of Breastmilk every day too,, I get a mom's donor milk for Bradley too.. I am pumpig my milk.. and get about 3 oz per day and put that in a bottle to give it to him.
