Hi everyone! I have been on the BCP and dom for about 16 weeks using the regular protocol. MY GS is due in early June with my little girl! I know that the protocol specifies to wait until about 6 weeks before expecting the baby but I really feel that I am ready now and don't want to jeapordize a building supply.

I have successfully lactated before and my breasts are currently built up, I am experiencing episodes of let down and leaking and beleive it or not I noticed recently that I was leaking colostrum (which is likely there because I had a full supply come in when I lost a 20 week pregnancy of my own). I am concerned that if I do not begin to pump that I will loose that precious colostrum and a building supply.

I would be pumping for another 16 weeks before the baby is here, it that okay to do??

Thanks smile

I don't know what others would say about staying on the protocol longer but I would start pumping now. You've experienced the breast changes and are leaking colostrum and bf a bio in the past. I would pump so that you can build an awesome supply and save it all in case you would need to supplement! I pumped for almost 2 years waiting for an adoption to come through as 8 failed ... just kept on pumping hoping the next one would be "the one". I ended up storing 3000 oz and have gone on to adoptively bf for over a year now! I say get the supply WELL established since you have the chance! Pumping longterm is not fun but it IS worth it. Best wishes to you!

If you feel you can get a good supply already and don't mind pumping that long ... I would say go for it. But if it turns out your supply does not go well. You still have time to go back on the protocol for a bit longer. Let us know how it goes
