just brought baby home wed morning, he is 9 months old and has been on bottle, he nursed twice yesterday with lactaid, he gets very upset today when i offer him breast. should i give him more time or what. my milk is not in yet, i have just started protocol. i would like to do this but do not want feedings to be to stressful for him. any suggestions.

Try feeding him before he is super hungry. Usually the getting upset is because they are very hungry and don't want to wait for the milk. You can also try when he is somewhat sleepy as well.

My advice would be: Be patient. Don't give up, and don't try to rush things...
Your baby has to get to know you and vice-versa. Breastfeeding is a very intimate relationship with a little person. There has to be trust, mutual confidence, love... It takes a little time to establish. At nine month your baby is well aware of his surroundings, his whole life just changed - and yours too!

It took me 3 months to go from bottle feeding to exclusive breastfeeding with our boy. At the beginning I had to switch from the pacifier to the breast when he was almost asleep, later on he got so used to breastfeed he would even refuse his bottle!
