In the first days the baby won't eat much. Maybe 1-2 ounces every 2-3 hours. Usually at least 8-12 times a day. The 2 1/2 times there body weight is based on formula feeding, but gives you a good estimate. Kellymom.com says most breastfed babies don't need much more than 24 ounces in a 24 hour period regardless of size. I still pump after the last night feed and the middle of the night feed. I had been pumping after the morning feed too, but found it was adversely affecting the amount of milk she was getting the rest of the day. DD is almost 4 months old and has been ebf since 2 weeks. We had no notice so I started pumping the day we received placement. Hope that helps.
