Hi all. Sweet little Ivy is 4 wks. and 3 days today. I have had her on the breast since her birth.

I only got 4 weeks of pumping in before she came early. I had enough milk for her for the first week or so when her stomach was very small, but I soon had to start supplementing.

I have been supplementing with an SNS exclusively. I have also been pumping around the clock in addition to nursing. My supply has probably doubled, but it isn't nearly enough for my hungry little girl!

Still, I am really enjoying the experience. I thank the universe every day for the inventor of the SNS.

I am working with a LC who has taught me lots of little tricks with the SNS. That is very helpful.

I don't think that I will ever have enough milk to BF exclusively, but it is all very much worth the effort that I am making.

Oh I am so glad you checked in to update us. Thank you for sharing. It is difficult to communicate to mommas that are waiting for their babies how much the experience of breastfeeding is as important if not more so than how much milk you produce. And with the SNS or lact-aid you can continue to breastfeed for as long as you and your child decide.
Congratulations on Ivy and the beautiful relationship you are having. smile

I am also glad to see your update. That is great to see that the SNS is working for you. It is about so much more than the milk. You also never know about catching up. I have read about women catching up after several months. Keep up the great work.
