I've noticed a big difference in milk production if i use a higher suction on the pump. I only go up to medium setting to get milk, but if i use a lower setting, which is more comfortable, then i can get no milk. I usually use the lower setting at night when I'm tired and half asleep.

Is it best to get milk at each pumping?
I also notice that if I massage and jiggle before and during pumping I get more milk.

I'm sorry for all the questions lately, thanks every-one for being very helpful!
Marica.

Using the medium setting is good. I always massaged and jiggled before hand I say do what gets the most milk. As long as you are not going any higher than medium suction. Sometimes you can use lower suction but turn up the speed. Not sure what pump you have but mine had independent settings.

Yes it is better to get milk at each pumping because the mechanism that gives the signal for your body to produce more milk is closely tied to the breast being frequently emptied.

You ask all the questions you need to ask! Thats what we are here for! Medium setting is good. A baby sucks harder than the low setting. But do NOT go to the high setting. You can cause permanent damage to your nipples. What kind of pump do you have?

Nona,
I bought the limerick Pj's comfort. It's very comfortable pump!
I love it.

Marica - I also have the PJ's limerick and I have noticed the same thing. I pump on the medium setting at least. I noticed if I turned up the speed, it was more comfortable. At first it was definitely not comfortable to pump with, but I had great amounts of milk. I think the medela is more comfortable, but doesn't do as good of a job.
