Hello. I am new to this forum. I did not have time to follow any of the protocols but I began pumping and taking dom 20/ 4 X a day for 10 days now and drinking mothers milk tea every day. I eat oatmeal every other day. I have been getting approximately a tsp out of each breast each time I pump. I have been manually expressing each breast for about 5-7 minutes every hour at work and pumping 20 mins with a medela pump in style every two hours when at home. In the past 24 hours I have had increased soreness near my lymph nodes and my breasts feel fuller. When should I expect to increase my flow and be able to spray when pumping? Does this mean that my milk has not yet come in? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

I started getting sprays between 2 and 3 weeks. You might also want to add the Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle. The herbs are much more concentrated in the capsules than in the tea.

Keep up the good work!

I am not sure what to tell you. I have not known anyone to get a good supply just with pumping and domperidone. But cubanayogini is right.. I would add the feenugreek and blessed thistle.. they work together..

It sounds like you are doing great for 10 days. If your breasts are starting to feel fuller, that is a good sign. I also think you should add in the fenugreek capsules.

wanted to add.. I am not saying you won't get a good supply.. my post did not sound good. I do know a lady that did it without the protocol. She got a full supply. I just can't remember how she did it. I haven't talked to her in a few years. That would great if you do it! Then maybe you can help other women wanting to do it without the bcps... keep us updated.. you DO have changes going on.

I know someone who got a good supply with just the Yasmin and then the herbs (no dom). I think that anything is possible. The people who make the Lact-Aid seem to think that just nipple stimulation is enough (no protocol) to induce lactation.

Do you have the baby yet? If not, when is the baby due? Putting the baby to the breast will really help your supply. I didn't have enough pumping time before the baby came (she was early) so I used the Medela SNS so that she would take her feedings exclusively at the breast. Now I am using the Lact-Aid, which I highly recommend over the SNS.

Keep up the good work! You are doing much better than I did after 10 days.

I don't have the baby yet. I am actually inducing to help out a friend of mine. She had a mastectomy two years ago and is due with her first child in a month. At first she had accepted that her baby would be formula fed but after realizing that I could try to provide the baby with at least some breast milk we decided to try. I am hoping that I will be able to produce to help her out. I bought the fenugreek and started it yesterday. I have been expressing for 20 minutes every to an hour and a half the past two days and I have a steady flow of drops. I hope this is progress. Thanks for the support.

If you have drops this is awesome.. IF she will let you put the baby to your breast after birth that will definelty help with your supply

Claudia,

Have you ever lactated or been pregnant before? I didn't do the protocol this time around (3rd adoption) because I was pregnant and miscarried. I started pumping 3 days after the D&E and began producing. I guess I'm asking because my friend has 2 children ages 6 and 3 -- she tells me that she still has milk available even though she stopped nursing a long time ago.

I started pumping and taking the herbs and eventually (3-4 months later) added domperidone when my supply dropped. I'm still pumping and waiting for #3 to join us 6 months later. This week I'm making 12 - 14 oz / day. The most I made in a day is about 18 oz. Thanks to Lenore, I knew that you can pump right after a late miscarriage to bring in your milk for an adopted baby. So, maybe if you've been pregnant or miscarried, it's easier to induce lactation.

Just my 2 cents. Hope that helps,
Nancy
