Hi all, This is my first post and I'm thrilled to have you all as a resource.

I have been on the accelerated protocol for 6 weeks and I'm about to start pumping. I can rent either the Lactina select electric pump or the Medela Pump in Style Advanced. Does anyone have advice on how they are different or a recommendation?

Thanks! Helen

I would always get the pumps that are portable. Though the hospital grade is a great pump. It does not have the vairable settings or suction. It is set to only one. The pump in style advance has the letdown mode. Its a mode where it initiates a baby first being put to the breast. Its a quick suck suck suck mode. To get you to letdown. Then it slows down to a more steady pace. If you choose not to use the letdown mode you can push the button and it will stop and go directly to the pumping cycle. You can still choose how much suction you get with the Advanced. Now there is the pump in style original. It does not have the letdown mode. But you can control how fast you pump and your suction. It just depends on what you would perfer. Medela is more going to the advanced and seems to be fazing out the original. But I would NOT use the the lactina. Its just to slow. That has been my experience
