I cannot take bcp's and I am overloaded with information! Any help is so appreciated! I am the mother of one exceptional boy that I breast fed. He passed away at 9 1/2 yrs old. I have tried to have a baby with no luck. Now I have a chance to adopt a baby girl with a private adoption, I am thrilled! I want to breast feed baby she is due March 1st. I have a Medella double breast pump, what do I need to take to help milk come in and how much to I take of it. And do I have to wait to start pumping when you are taking herbs and that dom medication? Any help would be a blessing I am so confused!!! Thank you

Okay... if you can't use the BCPs... I would suggest ordering domperidone. You need to take 2 pills 4 times a day which is 80 mg.. You can work up to 120 mg a day. Also you need to get blessed thistle and Fenugreek. Take 3 capsules of each 4 times a day. There is also something called Goats Rue. It can be taken to help build your breast tissues. Though I am not familiar with how it is taken. Some of the other mothers can chime in and help you with that. Keep hydrated and pump every 2 1/2 hours. Also eat oatmeal daily or oatmeal cookies. Lalle... you wanna chime in.. I am sure I have forgotten some

Thank you so much for your response... I have been in information overload. DH and I have been trying to get pregnant for over a year and this adoption has literaly fallen into our laps. I did not want to take bcp since we are still trying so hard to get pregnant. Is it worth taking bcp for a month than to go the herbal rout... do you get that much better milk production from using bcp's? I sure do appreciate you ladies. I have been reading and reading all the back posts. I never knew it was possible to breast feed an adopted baby. What a miracle this is!

If you have no contraindications to the bcp then I think it is totally worth taking it for a month or more to bring in your milk. You just have to make sure that you use another form of birth control if it is unsafe for you to be pregnant, because you are taking all active pills to mimic pregnancy not avoid it.
