Ok, we met with the birthmother, yesterday. It went so well. She was wonderful and seems very commited to the adoption plan. She thinks she is going to deliver in Oct but the latest she will go is Nov. 11th (her planned c-section date). She has a Dr appointment on Mon. and may know more at that time.

So, should I just stay on the program until I hear more? Currently, I have taken BCP and domp for 5 weeks, 2 days. I am taking 9 pills of domp a day (90 mg).

Any suggestions...when is the latest I should start pumping?
Thanks,
Amy

I think it depends on what you want. You could start pumping now and give yourself a week or two or three of pumping to build a supply. It is possible you might not have to supplement. Or you could wait to hear more from the doctor and start then, but there is a chance the baby will come sooner and you'll have to supplement for sure.
I will say that I didn't start pumping until the baby was placed with us and it worked out great for us, but I didn't bf for the first week while I was building a supply. I did get up to a full supply at two weeks (very quickly and not typical I think) and have been ebf since. I would actually consider doing it this way again, because I didn't have the risk of the bm changing her mind and having milk already. But at the same time, it would have been nice to have milk right away to make bf easier at first (I had a really hard time with the lactaid - but many women make it work).
Good luck and let us know what you decide.
Jennifer
