I have read that a lot of women have increased their domperidone to 160mg. I have been on the protocolsince August for our adoption in March, but I am on on 80mg/day. Should I and when should I increase. I start pumping the middle of January. Thanks for your advice.

I stayed on 80 mg until my daughter was 1 1/2 months old. At that point, I felt that I needed a bump so I increased to 120 mg. I have stayed at that level since. My daughter is a year today and she is ebf. I would not increase until after you have been pumping for a month or so at least. See how 80 mg works for you. If you aren't increasing adequately in milk supply then you can increase your mg a little.

I would agree with that. Many moms do fine on 80mg.

I agree with Jenn wait until you have pump for a month or so and then see if you need to increase. I have not heard of taking 160mg up to 120 is okay but you increase gradually so up it to 90 then 100 and so on. You may not need to increase it at all like talithasmom said many women do fine on 80 mg.

I think the thing is that there are many forums for breastfeeding where moms both bio and adoptive mention that they are on such and such mg of Dom and are doing ok. I would hope anyone on 160mg would have asked a doctor's advice at least. I have heard of Dr Newman upping a dosage beyond the norm but that was when everything else was tried.
It is too bad that Dom is not availabe normally in the US as it leads to people ordering it online and then self prescribing. It is still a drug and while safe; can have side effects on certain individuals and doctors should at least be aware if someone is using it.

I would NOT go to 160mgs.... not without getting okay from Lenore.

Not to hijack your thread....But, how do you know if you need to increase? I am on 80 mgs a day right now. I have been pumping for a little over a month. My supply has plateaued at 6 ounces a day. Should I add more dom in? Or should I wait until we are matched?

I would wait until you are matched. As long as you are making milk and you keep that process going you should be fine. Baby will get more out. The best thing to do to increase is to add extra pumping sessions.
