With a decrease in donor milk I've been using, I decided to try and wean off the dom. I'd been taking 5 pills in morning, 6 in afternoon, and 5 at night. I cut down to 5 in the afternoon with no significant increase in my donor milk use. However, the baby got a little fussy at night and I gave her the supplementer--something I don't normally need to do. She didn't take much, but she went to sleep. A few days later I cut back the morning dom to 40 mg. Again, no great increase in donor milk, but she is a bit fussier at night. That could be because we EC and she wants me to take her to the bathroom more at night. Maybe she's teething--though I doubt that's it, maybe she just needs extra milk at night to make up for less nursing during the day. My breasts do feel a bit dry, but when I just nursed her she fell asleep with only a few added sips of donor milk.

It just occurred to me that my 3 year old has been nursing a lot at night the last couple nights. Maybe he's sucking me dry and not leaving any for the baby.

Any thoughts?

Here's more info which may help:
Just before my adopted baby started solids she increased from 6 ounces to 10 ounces donor milk a day. With solids she was back to 6 ounces. Then suddenly this week, about 3 or 4 weeks into hearty solids, her donor milk intake decreased to 2 or 3 ounces a day.

I have been taking 160mg dom a day (per advice from Jack Newman.) I do not have the fatigue Lenore has warned about. However, I have noticed that if I'm doing nothing I will nod off. I even did this sitting at a stoplight. I wonder if it's the dom or if it is tandem night nursing. Between pregnancy and my two little ones (bio 3 year old still night nurses, adopted baby is 6.5 months) I haven't had a full night's sleep in almost 4 years and for the first time I'm longing for uninterrupted sleep.
