Hello, my name is Candace Banks. Just to give you a brief history, I just lost my third pregnancy...my milk came in (and is QUICKLY drying up) and we have started the adoption process. We should hopefully have a baby in the home in the next 3 months! I am scared that I am going to lose what little milk I have and so I ordered a bpump & it should be here tomorrow...in the meantime, does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to keep from losing my milk? Right now, I'm lucky to get a few droplets when I try to hand express...it's also getting thicker.

Thanks,
Candace Banks

Hi Candace,

I have one bio baby (he's 4 1/2 now) that I nursed 3 yrs. If you're wanting to keep you milk flowing for 3 months, I think you'll have to do a lot of pumping and nursing (nipple stimulation). You might have to get creative that way. I also found that later in my nursing experience, I had gotten careless about drinking fluids. I would intentionally drink gatorade for couple of days and get in some extra nursing and that would increase my supply pretty quidkly.

Overall, you'll need to pump / nurse / stimulate on a nursing frequency schedule if you want to keep you milk flowing. It's a supply and demand thing.

Good luck!

Thanks for your helpful info! I am really excited about the possibility of nursing!! I jus think that's too cool!! Lenore has also led me to a Dr here in Texas that specializes in recurrent m/c and so maybe I'll get lucky & have my own (or maybe even BOTH). My husband and I want a gaggle of kiddos...not really THAT many, but we want 4-5 so we've gotta get started!

Take care
Candace
