I am expecting twins via gestational surrogacy -- 40w EDD is Feb 12. I've been on the dom/BCP protocol since my GS was 6w. I plan to start pumping when my GS is around 32w, so about 6 weeks from now. which means, I need to order a pump soon. Which pump yields best results? Also, I'm very small breasted -- is there a pump that works better for small-breasted women?

Also, I'm getting really nervous that it is not going to work. From reading these forums, it seems like the people who have the best results are those who have been pg and nursed before, then induced when adopting a child later. I had problems with IF and have never nursed before.

Thanks,
Nicole

I bought the PJ's Limerick on the recommendation from these boards. It worked well for me. I got it from someone on these boards, but you can sometimes find them on e-bay. They are more expensive than a PIS but are rated multiple user. I also had the Pump In Style and liked it too.

Nicole there are planty of women here who have not been pregnant or nursed and have acheived full supplies. Do not let that discourage you. The only thing required to breastfeed while using the protocol are breasts. Make sure you have a lact-aid system for using in the beginning in case you need to supplement. I never got to use a Limerick I used the PIS but if I were doing again I would definitely want to try the Limerick just based on everything I have heard about it.

The Medela Symphony is the best if you can afford it. If not go with the PIS or Limericks PJ jr.

Thanks Lalle. i think I will rent a hospital grade pump from a local hospital to get myself started. Will I need to pump after the babies are here? We're having twins and I will not be working (we get a year maternity leave)and if I am breastfeeding twins will I need to continue to pump?

I am not sure if you will need to pump or not. I would say no but it maybe nice to keep it for awhile just in case.

I would want to have a pump to pump after feeds whenever possible. I liked having a pump on hand just in case. I used the PIS and the Limerick.

Is the Medela Pump in Style or the Medela Lactina better?

I rented a Lactina and did NOT like it. I bought a PIS and it was great. It worked really well for me.
