My husband and I want to adopt a new born from overseas. I am in the foreign country waiting for a baby. I have no idea when there will be a new born available.
I meant to start the accelerated protocol, but discovered that Yasmin is not available here. So I am using Nortel (Ortho 1/35), and dom for 23days.
I started to feel the breast hurt and be sensitive within the first 2 weeks, but that last only a few days... since then I have been ok.. (i can get into more detail if necessary but no more breast sensitivity.
So now I have questions:
1)Since we don't know when we will get a baby, do i continue on the on this protocol? Should I add provera if i can get it?
2)Tonight i discovered that my night gown is wet near my nipple.. am I lactating already? Is it possible? What is happening? Should i start pumping? confused
Please HELP!

Thank you for reading.

PS
Has anyone lost weight on this protocol?

Lenore told me that woman are getting a better response on Ortho so I'd stay on that and not add the progesterone unless absolutely necessary. I was on Yasmin the last time we were on the protocol (we had a failed match back in October and I was on the accelerated protocol and My response wasn't nearly as good as it is this time on ortho.

You shoudln't be lactating because the BCP prevents lactation so I'd say the wetness must have been from something else. But maybe someone else on the forum can shed some light on this subject.

My bbs will be tender one day then fine the next. My bbs rarely ever hurt to be honest. Mostly they are just firm feeling and I have increased a cup size. other then that I have no tenderness at all. I was on the accelerated protocol for about 2 months, off it for a month then went on the regular protocol when we got matched again. (honestly didn't think we'd be matched again so quickly)

I haven't noticed weight changes at all

Since you don't know when you will be matched it's up to you how long you stay on the protocol. Is there a reason you are only doing it for 23 day's? DO you expect to be matched quickly?

Hi Hvnsnt,
Thanks for responding. I'm glad to hear that women are responding better to the ortho, its a relief.
I actually meant to say that I'd only been on the protocol for 23 days so far and my breasts had started to leak already. Which they did again the day after as well, and this time the other breast as well.
I asked a lactation specialist MD and she said that a little bit of leakage is to be expected, and that it was a good sign. I hope Lenore concurs.

At this point I'm going to stay on the protocol until I hear otherwise from Lenore. I just wonder if I have to alter the protocol and start pumping right away, or wait and stay one the bcp until I know that I am getting a baby.

My breasts are definitely going through something, sensations off and on; but they haven't increased in size yet, at least not that I have notice.
So when are you expecting your baby?

According to the protocol you stay on it till you increase at least a cup size but you could also email lenore directly and see what she suggests.

The baby is due Mid April. Not sure if it's a boy or a girl yet. Should find out soon. Our last failed adoption the baby was a girl so a girl would be easier since we have a ton of girl stuff but we'll be happy either way.

Hi UmSami,

I also leaked while on the protocol. I attribute that to the high prolactin levels caused by the domperidone. I leaked during a breast exam at the doctor's office which startled the doctor LOL. I also leaked in the shower when I squeezed to see if there was anything in there. I'm talking about leaking one or 2 drops, that's all.

Good luck with your adoption!
Jenny

I just heard that that there might be a baby available for us!! I'll find out more next week smile
So I'm wondering if i should start pumping next week?

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one grin

I'll find out tomorrow when I can see the baby. I think its an abandoned baby, but i will know more next week. I'm excited and nervous at the same time smile Its our first!

I've now been on the bcp 30days; not sure if my breasts have grown a cup size. Wondering if i should start pumping tomorrow?

My personal idea is to stay on the BCP/dom as long as you can. It seems from reading posts here that the longer you are on the first phase of the protocol, the more milk supply you are able to build.

Hi Jenny,
I have the same thoughts. So I have continued on the bcps until I know for certain when I will have the baby in my arms.
I wish they would just give me an idea, they are being so vague.
