Linda, thank you for your reply.

When you say you started the protocol after your DD's birth, what protocol did you do?

The only thing that I could have done differently is remain on the hormones for 2 more weeks before starting pumping. The protocol calls for 2 months and I only did 1.5 months. I cannot imagine that would have made a huge difference though. I also couldn't take the full dose of domperidone because it caused me side effects so I had to increase it very slowly. I don't want to get overly focused on the drug aspect of the protocol and I have to hope that the stimulation part of the protocol is important too!

With twins, I will pretty much be breastfeeding round the clock so if my breasts are going to step up to the plate, I guess they'll do it at that time! When I was at the hospital visiting my surrogate while she was on bedrest, I felt embarrassed to be taking my syringes of milk to the NICU freezer when everyone else was taking bottles full!

Hi Cappy,

I was on the accelerated protocol for 1 month. Milk increased slowly, but DD was on the breast with the SNS then lact aid from day 9. Breasts got lots of stimulation that way. I still was very unsure on how much she was receiving, re lactating is very different than how I felt with my bio children. I was able to provide 95% of her milk intake.
I firmly believe that no matter what amount you produce that this is worth the effort. My DD still looks at me ( just turned 2 ) points to my breasts and says " num num?" and would suck if I allowed her to. Precious time.
Again, the pumps are NOT the same as BF. Do you have the type that starts out with quick shallow pulses for a minute or 2? I had that type after a Medela and found it much easier to have let down.
I had no idea that there was this forum until DD was 3 months old and it was such a help and encouragement to me.

You should be PROUD that you have milk for your little ones! That contains YOUR cells! Not many woman are willing to make this type of commitment, and I say WELL DONE.

Keep it up
Linda
