I am on my second month of Yasmin and have been spotting and cramping for almost 8days. I do have cramping with my periods but they only last the first two days and thats it. I take Tylenol about every two hours and that is getting me scared since its been going on for 8days. I am not worried about the spotting but the cramping hurts really bad and lately it seems the Tylenol am taking cannot handle it anymore. I don't know what else to do or how long its gonna last. Please I need your helpful insights; anyone go through this and what did you do to manage the cramping. Am in tears and really need your help please. Also is there any over-the-counter med you think can handle the cramping better than Tylenol. Thanks a lot for helping.

First of all, you are taking too much Tylenol and that can be damaging to your liver. Tylenol should be taken every 4 hours. Ibuprofen works much better for cramps. If this has been going on for 8 days you should call your OB and check in with them. They are better equipped than we are to make recommendations to you.

Thanks a lot Michele for helping. My Ob's office is closed for the holidays and I cannot speak with them until they come back however I just got some ibuprofen in the morning to help me out. The worst is that I even wake up two to three times at night due to the severe cramps. I don't know how many more days of torture I can handle with this but what makes me to keep going is the idea of been able to breastfeed our twins. Do you know if it is safe to take ibuprofen with yasmin? Once again thank you.

You can take it every 6 hours as needed. Glad you are getting some relief.

Cutie, I think *severe* pain should definitely be checked out by a doctor, with no delay.

Here's what I understand to be acceptable dosages of both Tylenol and Motrin for healthy adults, although I do not claim to be an expert and you should check with your doc:

Motrin (ibuprofen): 10mg/kg every 8 hours
Tylenol (acetominophen): 10-15mg/kg every 6 hours

So, if you weigh 60kg (132 pounds) you could take 600mg of Motrin (3 pills)every 8 hours and 900mg of Tylenol (2-3 pills of regular strength Tylenol) every 6 hours.

Hope that helps.
Jenny

Thanks jenny, I went to the Doctor, they did physical examination, ultrasound and pregnancy test and said it was just break through bleeding. They gave me prescription strength motrin to take 3 times per day or as needed for pain. Well I took one cap and the pain disappeared and never came back again. Am assuming its either the pain was already getting ready to leave since I have had it for 11days or the prescription motrin was a magic pill. Whichever one, my pain is gone since three days and am happily enjoying my dom and yas once again.
