I just rec'd my lact-aid - boy it looks a bit overwhelming.

Is it really necessary to use distilled water for formula as the directions suggest? Has anyone had any problems with clogging in the tube from mineral build up?

How often do I sterilize them? Can I sterilize in the dishwasher or is it too fragile?

Also, I'm on day 60 of the regular protocol & I'm nauseated ALL the time. I've gotten "morning sickness" on the pill before but only for like a week when I first started it. Has anyone else experience extended nausea while on the protocol - is it normal? I feel like I'm pregnant with all the nausea, heartburn, achy breasts, & don't forget weight gain - ugh!

Hi Pammy,

I'll tell you what I do. I clean the the system after each time I use them with water and use the bulb to clean out the small tube. Once a day I clean them with hot soapy water and rinse them clean and put them on a paper towel to dry. I have only used donated breast milk so I can't comment on using formula.

I would never but the parts in the dishwasher even in a basket. You should just boil them in a pot of boiling water for 20 minutes. I only did this once when I first received them.

Can't comment on the pill because I can't take them but I'm sorry to hear you are having so much nausea that's never fun.
