I took progesterone for 11 months and started pumping 4 weeks ago. I started with just drips in the bottles, and just now am up to 1 ounce/day. Is this a normal volume at this point. I read post of women pumping 15 ounces/day and get discouraged. Baby is due in 3 weeks.

I am assuming you are taking domperidone too? How much dosage? How often are you pumping? Are you taking fenugreek? I tried to eat oatmeal (sometimes oatmeal cookies) and drink plenty of water. I also tried to get some rest during the day. Do you look at pictures of babies while you pump? That helped me tons and envisioning them crying helped too.

Don't be discouraged, everyone increases at their own rate.

I take 80 of dom, wondered if I should bump to 120/day.
I have a toddler and work part time, so I average pumping 6 xs/day
I eat oatmeal about 5 xs/week
I have not added fenugreek, wondered if it really helped?

I think I would bump up to 120 at this point.
I think pumping 6x a day is great. It would be really good if you could pump at least once in the middle of the night. They say that is the most important to increasing production.
I think the fenugreek helped. I didn't think the blessed thistle did much for me, but I think I might try both if I was in your position.
Good luck!

Jennifer, when you say that is the most important to increasing production, do you mean pumping in general or pumping once at night?

Pumping at night (I think between the hours of 1 am and 5 am) is supposed to be the most important time to pump to increase your supply. I think it is something about prolactin levels.

lol. I was only getting 6 oz a day at my peak (at 4 months after stopping bcps) and only after I started taking 30mg of dom four times a day. The blessed thisle & fenugreek didn't do anything for me... I tried looking at baby picture & listing to baby cries, but it didn't increase my milk either. frown

I was pumping about 8 times a day and eating oatmeal every day. I did the regular protocol for 9 months.

BUT I was able to save all that milk in 2 oz bags. So that I could suppliment with my own breast milk.
