I will admit. I get discouraged at the small amount I make at each pumping session. I have been pumping for 9 days and as of yesterday I accumulated approximately 1 and 1/3 ounce. Each session is just such a small amount and I feel as though I should be producing more. I have been on the protocol since mid June but just started the pumping phase 9 days ago. Is there any other supplemental things I can be doing besides the repeated pumping and taking the dom that may help to increase milk flow/supply? Any helpful hints would be appreciated!!

Are you taking the herbs? I think the fenugreek helped. I had to take enough that I smelled a little like maple syrup. I think the other recommended one is blessed thistle, but I don't think it helped me as much.

Are you eating oatmeal? I tried to eat it frequently and ate cookies as well.

Are you getting enough sleep? I tried to take a nap during the day. Drinking enough water?

You are still early in the pumping phase, so I wouldn't be too worried at this point.

Yes, I think I failed to mention that. I am taking Fenugreek. 3 pills 3 x a day. I am trying to stay hydrated and am drinking at least 6 glasses a day. Should I drink more? Not doing the oatmeal though. What is the reason for that? I am willing to try it if you think it would help (even though I HATE oatmeal - I'd do anything for my babies!) I do nap during the day. Not lengthy but refreshing. I do realize I am early, I am just a worrier too! I try not to stress as I know it will affect my milk supply.

When I was pumping for DS I would do power pumping sessions in the evening where I would pump 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off for an hour or two. They say that simulates the cluster feeding babies do when they are trying to increase your supply. Hope it helps!

I can try that. And actually you just sparked my memory. The lactation consultant did tell me to take an hour where I might be just watching tv and pump during every commercial during that one hour show. That's similar to what you're saying. I totally forgot. Thanks for jogging my memory. So much info...so little brain space! lol

Oatmeal is thought to increase supply. Some people say it has to be specific kinds of oatmeal. I just ate instant. I'm not crazy about oatmeal either, so I made cookies more often too. You can probably find out what kind is recommended by googling.
