Hi ladies...

I have to have a kidney stone "blasted" this Wednesday. I'm a little nervous about the cardiac warnings associated with the drug and having this surgery... sometimes the shock waves used to blast up the stone can cause some cardiac irritability. So I'm going to stop the medication for a couple days. What do you think I should do? Stop cold turkey for surgery on Wednesday or wean gradually over a week or so and reschedule for next week? If I start right back up with the Dom afterwards, do you think this will be a big problem in terms of progress with the protocol?

Thanks,
Daisy

Daisy,

How many days will you be off the Dom?

I had major surgery in July (hospitalized for a few days) and went off Dom (plus stopped pumping) for a few weeks. I was in so much pain from the surgery, pumping was the least of my concerns. Let me tell you, my supply DRASTICALLY decreased. I was getting 6 oz a day, I'm only getting about 2 oz every 2-3 days now. It's terrible.

I think if you only stop for a few days and cont. pumping when you can, you'll be fine. Don't do what I did... frown

I would stop tonight (Monday) and restart Wednesday afternoon. I just hope that's long enough to get most of the med out of my system in order to reduce the cardiac risks, which I know are small!

I had an appendectomy while on the dom. I missed a couple of doses and was not able to feed the baby for a day, but that was about it for me. I did have a small drop, but it picked back up after. I think only missing for a little over a day, should be okay, but I wouldn't want to do more than that.
