Okay, so as of yesterday I have been getting about 3 - 4 ozs of milk per day. That is an increase in what I have been getting but I would like to get that per pump instead of per day. Also as of last evening I have increased my Dom (under care of a Dr.) to 30 mgs 4 times a day instead of 20. Has anyone else done this? Did you have any side effects? Did it help with the increase in milk production? How long did it take to see an increase in milk production if any? Anything else I should know that might be helpful? Thanks again ladies for all your helpful comments!

I increased to 30 mg 4 times a day and I think it did help. It's hard to say because I was breastfeeding at the time, so I can't compare how much I was making while pumping. I was able to achieve a full supply. I had no side effects.

How long have you been pumping?

I have been pumping for a month now. I have never breast-fed before or had children. I don't know if that has an effect on my ability to produce a lot of milk or not. It seems as though a lot of the women I have encountered have at least achieved a prior pregnancy and breast-fed.

Have you tried looking at pictures of crying babies while pumping? That really helped my let down response.

When is the baby due?

I have tried looking at pictures as well as actual video of crying babies on You Tube. It doesn't seem to work for me.

How long does it take after increasing Dom to possibly see an increase?

The babies (2) are due in December sometime, via a gestational carrier.

It is hard to say how long the increase took for me, because I already had the baby when I did it, so I was just trying to keep up with her need.

I know it is frustrating, but I wonder if you just have a hard time letting down to a pump. It may start increasing more when you have the babies with you.

Do you do the massage and jiggle in the middle of pumping? Have you tried hand expression at the end of a session? I never did it but it has helped others. Are you pumping at least once at night?

I do the massage and jiggle in the middle of pumping. I have not tried the hand expression at the end. I pump every two hours and that includes during the night. I really want to do this for my babies but I admit I am getting a bit discouraged. I feel like I am failing. frown

I can't give advice on hand expression, but maybe post something and someone else can. I'm sorry it has been so hard. But really it may increase more once the babies are here. I know you'd like to have enough for them, so that makes it hard.

View the video link here by Stanford on maximizing milk supply. This is an evidence-based intervention and should increase your supply. http://newborns.stanford.edu/Breastfeeding/MaxProduction.html

Medela has a new breast pump that is for mothers of Preemie babies. It has been a huge break thru in increasing the milk supplies of mothers who are breast pump dependent, just as we are in inducing lactation for babies we do not have in our arms yet. It is the "Medela Symphony Preemie+ Breast Pump"
It is not the Regular Symphony but I hear if you have the regular Medela Symphony, Medela does sell a new "Preemie+ sim card", that will fit in the regular Symphony and simulate this new pattern. Here is a link with the whole story and the studies preformed proving the huge milk increase.

Try this Randnmom and see if it helps.
