I am now 13 days into pumping and I still barely get drops. I upped my dom doasge to 120mg (no change) and started taking goat's rue on last night on top of the fenugreek, blessed thistle, and oatmeal I have been taking. Production actually DECREASED today vs. yesterday to the point where I didn't even get drops the first two pumping sessions of the day. Fortunately the baby appears to want to wait for her due date (3 days from now), but unless things change *dramatically* once she is here then this whole experiment will have been a very expensive failure.

I am very depressed about the whole situation and it is affecting my relationship with my family. Breastefeeding was a wonderful bonding experience with my bio son, but I am getting to the point where I resent it.

I am sorry that you are frustrated. I think that having the baby there will make a world of difference. You can use a supplemental system like the SNS and that will give you the stimulation you needs while the baby feeds. Don't give up hope.

I'm sorry things aren't working out like you hoped. I also think you should see what happens when the baby is here. The baby might stimulate you to start producing.

Goats Rue Develops the breasts. Helps to build the milk ducts. The breasts can only work on one thing at a time, either building breast tissue or making milk. The Goats Rue could be hindering your body from making milk.

Colette - do you really think the goats rue could be confusing things? I read in other forums that women with PCOS (which I have) sometimes don't have the breast changes necessary to breastfeed even if they are naturally well endowed. I got really big when I nursed my bio-son (like a 34H or something like that) and this time around the prometrium only caused me to grow from a D to maybe a DD. I thought I would give the goat's rue a chance to increase capacity, but if you think it might be making matters worse I am happy to drop it.

I just know what the protocol says is that your breast can only concentrate on one thing at a time. I do not have first-hand experience with Goats Rue. Why don't you ask Lenore And maybe even email Dr. Newman. He is very fast at responding to his email.
I know that most of this is guesswork.
