Hi everyone!

Well we have a BM looking over our profile and she is due in August. Best case scenario - she picks us and I need to start pumping -

I am on day 92 of the regular protocol - I have ordered my herbs (just in case) - and was wondering, IF we get matched, should I immediately stop the protocol and begin pumping - OR should I take meds as long as possible.

Should I also look into getting a Lact-aid? IF so, how many? or should I wait to see what kind of supply I can produce?

Some background: I have never been pregnant before, I have had breast swelling and have produced moisture with a little hand expression from both breasts.

I would really love to hear your opinions on the matter - I want to do what's best for the baby.

Is she due at the beginning, or end, of August? If she is due near the beginning or middle, I would stop immediately, and begin pumping. It takes a little time for your supply to build, and you will want to build it before the baby comes. And yes, LactAids would be good. I think I have three. If you can afford them, get 4-6. At least, that's what others who have used them suggest. (I haven't brought our baby home yet, so I have no experience with the LactAid) If you can, get a minimum of two. They are good to have on hand if you need them, and this way, you don't have to immediately wash your only one when you are finished. You can try to have bags of formula, or breastmilk, in the fridge all ready, so when the baby is hungry, all you have to do is hook up the bag and you're good to go.
I will be praying you get picked. How exciting! Keep us posted!

Hi Renee and congrats on your possible match!! I just really felt compelled to speak from experience. I feel that you should wait until things are legal before you stop the protocol. I wish I had. Our adoption (that looked like it was a sure thing) fell through in May and I wish I hadn't started pumping until it was a done deal. I don't see anything wrong with the baby (once everything is legal) acting as the pump. This seems the most practical thing to me now! Sorry about being soooo practical, but I wish that I had listened to that advice in May when someone gave it to me. I hope all works out.
