Hello All, I'm on day 5 of starting BCP and 10 mg Dom 4 x a day. I had a little bit of a headache yesterday and that's it. I'm afraid this isn't going to work for me. Has anyone else not had a headache? Also, has anyone NOT gained weight on the protocols? I'm on the *fluffy side as it is and have been following Weight Watchers and doing great. Thank you.

Thanks for the milk increasin vibes. LOL. I do get headaches, not to often though from the medicine. I do have been getting them more since my breast size has increased, and from leaning while I pump. It sounds weird I know, but when I pump, it makes the milk flow better when I lean, so my back and head hurt. Do I make sense? Well, weight gain, I started out loosing 10, then gained it back and acouple or few more. I think it comes witht he territory. I am wishing you the best of luck with milk production. I get frustrated, like now, but the end result will be so well worth it. Milk come in vibes to you!!!!

Hi Jen,
Well, this is what we call "the domperidone headache" and the good news is that it usually subsides after the first week or so. You can wait a bit before increasing the dom to 20 mg 4 times per day.
As Melissa said, weight gain goes with the territory but it's good for you milk and once you start breastfeeding and/or pumping, it will peel off.
One of the things you can do to help yourself is to reduce your carbohydrate intake such as bread, pasta, rice, potatoes and such. That can help to keep your weight steady. Losing is pretty tough while you're actually on the protocol.
Small price to pay for all the goodies that come with breastfeeding. So hang in there honey.
Fondly,

I also had a pretty bad headache when I first started on the dom but it went away after about a week and a half. There is hope that it will still work for you if you give it time!

Thanks for the responses, but actually my concern wasn't that I *have* the headache, it's the lack of headache. I only have had a headache one day. I 've read many posts about the headache beeing such a big part of the Dom that I'm worried. Does that make sense? TIA

Hi Jen,
I'm afraid I misunderstood you too. A headache is not a necessity. If you didn't get one...great!!! You don't need a headache for your breasts to develope. Some women get headaches with even very minimal hormone changes. Consider yourself lucky.
You'll know soon enough if this is working for you. Your breasts will tell you.

Don't worry. I didn't get a headache, either, and I currently have a full supply, after being on the protocol for 8.5 months. You will do great!

Thank you so much ladies, I really appreciate the reassurance! Seems so silly to be worried about NOT getting a headache, but, it sure feels good to know I'm OK LOL
