Hi everyone,

When I asked my Lactation Consultant about the Lact-Aid, she said they perferred the SNS. I searched the listserv history, but didn't see the SNS mentioned, anyone have opinions on the SNS vs. Lact-Aid?

Thanks, Jean
pumping 6 times a day and getting just under 10ml (but hopeful), pumping for about a week

1 week ~ 10ml 2 weeks ~20ml 3 weeks ~ 30ml 4 weeks ~ 45ml 5 weeks - back to ~30ml after 2 days w/o serious pumping

The LactAid is preferred by most on this board, although I am sure not by all. The LactAid has a more flexible tube then the SNS. The SNS has a hard plastic bottle, which is harder to hide in your clothing when nursing in public. The SNS lets the milk out due to gravity, where the LactAid makes the baby work for it, just as they normally do at the breast. But I think the SNS has 3 different tube sizes, where the LactAid has just the one size.
I don't have any experience with either one of them, although I do have 3 LactAids on hand, just in case I ever need them.
Hope this helps!

the lact-aid tube is much more supple than the SNS. The sns tube gets slippery when its wet. Even when I taped it down.. it slide under the tape and choked the baby. Your lactation consultant would only offer the SNS because that is all Medela sells. You have to get lact-aid from from Lact-aid international. SNS is sold my Medela. I perfered the lact-aid hands down over the SNS.

Thanks Dawn and Nona,

That is great info! I know my lactation consultants sell a lot of melda products, so that is probably why the recommend the SNS. I'll order the Lact-aid. From what I you both told me, I'm guessing it will help me bring in my own milk supply more quickly.

Thanks!!!!! Jean
