Hello Everyone,

I am looking for your expertise. Yesterday I noticed fluid in my ears as I was sick. Today I called my doctor and I went to see him to see what was going on. I cannot hear out of my right ear so I really need to take something. My family doctor prescribed Allegra D and once I was in my car I took one. Oh and my doctor knows I am lactating.

Then I remembered that I had heard that decongestants can dry up your milk supply. So I called my obgyn and he suggested I try Sudafed. I was told if that does not work to then use the allegra D. My questions are these will the sudafed dry up my milk supply. I am still a little down in ozs. from slowing things down with the meds and pumping. Now though I am back to taking all of the dom, and herbs.

Due to being sick I am down a little as I have not pumped as much or eaten much. Pease let me know your experience with sudafed and milk supply. Right now I need to do all that I can to increase my supply not decrease it.

One last question should I be dumping my milk because of the sudafed? It's not like I don't have some, my freezer is pretty full of milk. Which is good I may be needing it soon.

Please let me know your thoughts concerning this?

Thanks,
Bella

On another BF board I go to, someone suggested Flonase, instead of Claritin. But she said she took Claritin for 3 days with no drying effects. Then she gave us this link....

And this one

Hope this helps! I live in fear of my first cold while nursing. I know I am going to be a chicken, and not take anything <img src="http://www.asklenore.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/crazy.gif" alt="" />

Just a little clarification. Sudafed (pseudoephedrine) is a decongestant, and is the 'D' part of Allegra D. Claritin and Allegra are both antihistamines.
