Reading back thru the previous postings I haven't found a complete discussion re the pumps (but I haven't read everything!). I'd like feedback re "hospital grade" Ameda (which I rented) vs a used Pump In Style. I'm trying to tell the difference thru trial and error, but I'm only day 5 of pumping, so results are still variable (but increasing!).

Any comments welcome -- thanks.

Hey Karen,

Welcome back!!! Which "hospital grade" Ameda did you rent? I sure hope it's not the Egnell....

The Pump in Style is the pump most of the gals on the protocols have used, with great success. I tried the Ameda Egnell and was very disappointed. Then Lenore suggested I get my hands on a Pump In Style and the results were dramatic. I went from drops to ounces in no time flat.

I used a rented Latina then bought a PIS and had the same results as Esther. I was pumping ounces in no time. Approx. 2 oz each pumping. I did the accelerated protocol when my adopted DD was 15 months. So I thought my results were great.

YES -- it is the Egnell -- that's what Kaiser uses. So I'm going to stick with the PIS -- better results noted already!

thx,
Karen

I just want to pipi in here about the Egnell. This was originally designed as a single breast pump....one breast at a time. Then they came out with the double kits but it seems the suction remained the same. So needless to say I've heard a lot of complaints about the Egnell not being strong enough for double pumping. Esther and Nona are just two of the moms who learned this the hard way. So do yourself a favor, stick with the tried and true Pump in Style and you'll have a much better result.

Fondly,
