An excess of homocysteine is associated with an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, and potentially other diseases such as osteoporosis and Alzheimer?s disease.

If you are contemplating a pregnancy your doctor is probably testing you to see if you can handle a pregnancy to term.

Hope this helps. Fondly,

When I was diagnosed with my Blood clotting disorder, I was also diagnosed with this. My Dr. put me on a prescription called Foltex (synthetic folic acid), and I was told that I would be on this for the rest of my life. The way he explained it to me, was that my body basically strips itself of Folic Acid, so I basically had very little, and that can lead to heart disease if it's not taken care of now.
