Hiya all!
I'm 35 wks 5 days today & went for my weekly NST/sono checkup.I'm 30% efgfaced but not yet dialated.
I'm scheduled to be induced On June 27th at 8 pm .He'll give me a pill called sideatac(spelling?) Then see how labor proceeds. My baby is ehad down now so I might have a go at vaginal delivery though my doc doesnt seem too keen on it.
He told me to take the last Heparin injection at Saturday night 8 pm so that its out of my system by 8 am sunday.the dosage he gave me is 5000units/ml.
The doc still hasn't told me how much my baby weighs:( He said he didnt do all that just important things like the baby's heartbeat check & amniotic fluid checkup.Isn't it important for me to know how much the baby might weigh & if she was right on target or not?

Also he said I don't need to use heparin after the delivery as we just used it for pregnancy & not for any health related reason.
I'm a little confused about it!It is a health condition as far as I know coz I was diagnosed with it after a d&c when I was NOT pregnant.
Well! right now I'm a little angry coz of his callous attitude.
But excited to have my baby.
Thanks everyone for being here & listening to me when i most needed it!

Desperate, I am so excited for you that soon your little one will be here for you to hold and nurse. I am concerned however with what seems to be an issue with your doctor. He doesn't sound like he gives you complete information and brushes off your questions. Vaginal delivery in almost all cases is much safer for Mom and baby than a C-Section. If you have real concerns and it sounds like you do I would seek another opinion, especially on the heparin issue. I would also highly recommend a birth prtner/doula. They can be of great help when you are not able to really speak for yourself, like while in labor. Is your doctor up there in age? He sounds like maybe he is a little stuck in his ways. I don't think it is too much to ask for the baby estimated weight. Usually a sonogram tech will tell you that info. Am I figuring right that you will be 38 weeks when they induce? All the best to you.
Hugs,

Well as a doula, to be honest, I would run the hell away from anyone suggesting cytotec on me or any of my clients. This is an incredibly dangerous way to induce anyone. Here's one article: http://www.mercola.com/2001/feb/4/cytotec_pregnancy.htm

I don't know your history, but have you had a c-section before? Could you see anyone else for a second opinion? This guy does not sound respectful of you, your body, or your baby.

Kerri , Oh My Goodness!! Is there another name for cytotec??? I was induced with some small pill that was inexpensive and FDA approved for stomach disorders. That they inserted into or up against my cervix. It was called miso something. Could it be the same thing?
Desperate are you in the US? Your lingo makes me think you may be overseas?

Kerri! Thank U for sending me that link. Lalle I'm in Dallas ,Texas.
This is my first baby after 3 m/c.
My doc has had 20 yrs of practice thast what he told me but he's been too rude since my last few visits.
I went to another doc for second opinion & he told me that my doc was doing right procedure but that time I didn't know he would use cytotec on me.
He told me today that it takes a LOT of time for cytotec to work so he'll have the nurse put me on it sunday night & when he comes Momday morning by that time i'll be ready to deliver .
I tried changing docs but the one recommended to me didnt want to take my case at 32 weeks so I guess I've been plain unlucky in my choice of doctors.

I have no idea what to do! I was actually planning to search for ways to start labor naturally & was going to have sex with my hubby even if it killed me coz I read that the semen contained prostaglandins which I needed to start labor.

That is true about the semen. That is what they told me the drug they used for me did was mimic that. I went on it Friday night and they gave it to me twice then again in the morning, they started me on pitocin at around 7:00 pm and then turned it up at 8:00 my son was born 3 hours later. So it went pretty quickly once I got on the pitocin. Can you get a hold of a midwife or call around to some of the birthing centers. I am sure you could find someone to take you. Dallas is a big place, keep looking. I have a friend there who gave birth about a year and a half ago. If you want I will email her and see if she has any recommendations. Let me know. My midwife told me evening primrose capsule poked and squeezed out into the vagina as high as you can get it. You may even be able to feel your cervix put it as close to there as you can get it. Some also say to take a Tablespoon of castor oil by mouth but I could never bring myself to do that. There are other herbal remedies that can be used too, but you would need to get that info from a midwife. I wish I was there I know some accupressure points that can help bring on labor. You could always look into acupuncture it works, or find a reflexologist to work the point in your foot to bring on labor. The thing is that your body and baby have to be ready for any of these things to work. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Oh Please ! I'll be forever grateful to U if U could help me .
God! I'm a mess!
It hurts me a LOT having sex but I'm already trying to find alternatives to natural self-dialation.

Thank U for the kind words & help!

Oh yes, Misoprostol is the generic name for Cytotec. It's the most damaging thing to enter obstetrics in the last few years in my opinion, and I'm not alone in that opinion. How can any of this be informed consent if even you, who used this drug, didn't know anything about it, you know? Doctors are pushing this on women and not giving them the risks.

In the midwifery textbook I'm reading right now, she talks about using castor oil. It will only work if you and your baby are ready to deliver, and it works by giving you really strong diarrhea and cramps that basically shock your body into labour. Yeah, so it's not that nice, but I'd take it over cytotec if they are your only choices. The dosage is 4 oz., though. So you're chugging down a half cup of the stuff, but it can work. Also, raspberry leaf tea, brewed extra strong and drunk from now until you deliver can start and/or boost contractions. It also tones and strengthens your uterus. But it needs to be real raspberry leaves, not fruit-flavoured teas from the grocery store. Go to a health food store and ask for red raspberry leaf tea. Drink a quart a day, iced or hot, with honey, lemon, whatever it takes to get it down.

Sex can be effective too, don't use a condom though, obviously, because you want that semen against your cervix. And it's important to have an orgasm. Isn't it great to talk about such private things like this?! Hilarious. The cervical gel they use to induce is pig semen anyway, so I'd feel alot less grossed out using my husband's if I were you. Or you could actually swallow it. Apparently the prostaglandins are utilized 10 times better if swallowed. So if sex is really painful you could fool around anyway.

Okay, so now I've surely made everyone blush. But women need to take their health into their own hands, and if knowing this stuff can make a difference, then I think it's all gotta be said. My apologies, though. LOL

Hi Desperate,

Well CONGRATULATIONS!!! You're just about there!!!

Well at this point, like it or not, you're best to do what your doctor tells you to do. You don't want to start fooling around with unsupervised methods, even if they have worked for some.... due to the heparin. You could start a bleed by inserting things, even having sex. It goes without saying that It would be a terrible tragedy if something went wrong at this late date.

So please, follow your doctor's advice. We're all looking forward to your birth story with great anticipation. We wish you a speedy and healthy delivery and a long and happy breastfeeding relationship with your child.

Fondly,

Kerri, thank you for the information. You didn't make me blush, better to know the truth I say. I am quite upset that they used this on me without me knowing the side effects. It is a wonder drug, as I was induced all three times with pitocin and the last time the cervix was very prepared for it. But had I known the risks I would've said no to it. The goal however was for me to have the baby. So by 37 weeks I was safe to try the natural methods. That is why I suggested looking for a midwife or birthing center that would be willing to take Desperate on. I don't remember...Why is the doctor inducing???
