We are again formally matched with a prospective birthmother. When I ordered all the drugs and supplies initially we had been matched with a 17 year old. In between ordering and actually receiving the drugs she changed her mind about placing and dropped out of contact. I worried and fretted over what to do - whether or not to start the protocol - but I decided to just go for it. We have been waiting for a long time and have had some VERY close calls so I figured the next match was just around the bend. Decided to go ahead and start the protocol as a measure of my faith and also, frankly to give me something to do! Well as it turned out we did get a call a few weeks after I started the bcp's and dom and as of last week we became formally matched. To make things really interesting it turns out that I just happen to run out of bcp's around the same time that I need to start pumping so it is almost like it was meant to be.

I can't believe our luck in getting a match so quickly after the last one failed. I know this isn't a sure thing. We've been through two failed matches and a reclaim of a baby we parented for a week so we know first hand how fragile these arrangements are but we are hopeful and are doing everything we can to prepare our home and our hearts and now my body for the arrival of this baby.

Our maybe baby is due on the 1st September. I expect to start pumping on the 21st July. I never ever thought we'd have got this far but I'm so glad that we are! I hope to be sharing some good news with you come September! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Hi,
I am so sorry to hear that you had to give back a baby. You must be such strong people to keep on going after that. We almost got a baby in our home this week, we were to pick her up on Wed. and the birth parents changed their minds. This is our third almost but this one got the closest.
Congratulations on this match! I will keep you in my prayers

I hope we get to be pumping buddies. Our baby is due via Traditional Surrogacy on September 11th. So I will be pumping beginning July 31st. Just 10 days after you.

I hope this placement goes smoothly for you. We went through a failed placement where we spent 3 days at the maternity ward after her c-section. Then we had about five interviews with no match and for some of those the pbm dropped out of contact. We were matched, unbeknownst to us, and the agency had us on a plane to Seattle. But before she could tell us to hightail it up there, it fell through. Glad we didn't know about it. LOL!! Then we were matched to receive our little daughter and it went as smooth as it possibly could. She's now 2 1/2 years old and we have an open relationship with her birthparents. Persistence pays off.

I received her when she was 4 months old and tried to breastfeed her. But, alas, she was already stuck to the bottle and I didn't know anything about this protocol so hadn't really prepared in any way.

I'm happy to have a newborn this time. It will be a new experience for me.

Good luck. Looking forward to the end of July!!

Joni,

Sorry about your recent failed adoption. I know it can just take all the wind out of your sails when it happens but like LoveyDovey says, Persistence pays off. I wish you the best of luck! Thank you for your well wishes and prayers!

LoveyDovey,

Yep, I'm excited about pumping too! I got my pump from ebay and when I got it a month or so ago I decided to try it straight away to make sure it worked properly. It does, thankfully. I'm sorry you had trouble. I buy on ebay all the time and have had one or two bad experiences but they have always been resolved to my satisfaction. Anyway, I packed my pump away and resolved not to touch it til next month. I can hardly believe it is less than a month now before I start! I've been on these pills since April. I'll be so glad to stop taking at least the Yasmin! Of course I have to replace the Yasmin with about a billion other pills but I'll worry about that later.

Good luck with your surrogacy journey. I read the PPS-Listserv and I assume you are the same LoveyDovey from there? It sounds like your life has been crazy this past year too! Here's to new beginnings for both of us!

Good luck!

Vanessa
