Hi!
I'm 37wks 1 day today & went for my NST & u/s.
My baby is in head down position & I'm still 30-35%effaced but not dialated at all.
I go for the same checkup(NST&sono) on Thuraday & then for the BIG DAY sunday for my induction.

I'm scheduled to go Sunday night for induction & then hopefully sometime that night or Monday I'll be able to hold my baby in my arms:)
I take my last Heparin injection on Saturday night.
After that my doc said he doesnt want me to continue taking those injections.
he said we were not taking it for any medical reason except to keep my blood thin during pregnancy.
He was in high spirits coz he had just few minutes b4 coming to check me delivered a baby girl to a Mom who was in the same boat as me.
I'll ask on Thursday if I could continue the use of injections & my main concern is "Will I be able to breast feed?"
I already talked to a lactation consultant & she'll be there for me at the hospital helping me with it but just wanted to be VERY VERY sure that my breast milk won't harm the baby!

Thank U all for the support!

Formula is much riskier than anything in your milk could be. Don't worry about that. Trust your body to do what it was built to do and nurse your little darling as much as you can. Having an LC around in the first few days is handy too. Good luck!

Hi D,

No need to worry about the heparin injections or even anesthesia should a c-section or epidural become necessary. There are very few medications that are contra-indicated for breastfeeding. Just remember the golden rule...If they can give you the meds while your baby is still inside you and connected by the umbilical chord where there are virtually NO filters, then you can breastfeed from breasts that filter out all but about 1% of the maternal dose of medication.

So worry not, ENJOY breastfeeding your baby!!! Looking forward to your birth story.

Fondly,
