HI all,
I have flat slightly inverted nipples and someone suggested I use breast shells. What kind do I get? How long and how often do I use them. I am on day 19 of the protocol.

Joni,
I am so sorry I did not get back with you! Okay.. Medela sells them, avent sells them. They are called breast shields. They come with 2 kinds of attachments. The one has a hole that centers over your nipple. That is the one you want to use. Get them and wear them everyday.. All day long. The gentle preassure is suppose to help coax out your nipples. You wear them in your bra. You cannot tell you have them on when your dressed

I've seen the Medela brand at Target now ... wow! Otherwise, you could probably order online.

Actually they are called shells and you can try them but there is another way to deal with inverted nipples...pumping helps a lot...but remember, the baby needs to latch past the nipple and onto the breast. A well latched baby bypasses the nipples. Contact a board certified lactation consultant to assist you. www.iblce.org Just click on the US or international registry depending on where you are located.
