Well it wasn't the special needs baby we thought it was going to be but we now have a son!
He is 15 months old and is completely healthy except he has Down Syndrome. We are so thrilled! We are leaving for Ohio to get him in the morning.
His name is Bryson Thomas Lee!

Congratulations!

Don't things happen fast when they FINALLY come along, though?

Your family is in my prayers. How exciting for you all.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I just want to mention that breastmilk is VERY important for Down's children. Breastmilk contains nutrients that assist the central nervous system and can make a very big difference in your baby's intelligence...as much as 12 points difference. So whether you are breastfeeding or whether you use donor milk, breastmilk is a gift that will last a lifetime.

Fondly,

Lenore Goldfarb, Ph.D.,CCC,IBCLC

Congratulations!!!! We have adopted two special little ones with DS. And have been asked to consider another placement (which we are). I did adoptive breastfeeding with both of ours and know it can be done and lots of trick for quirky ds issues if you need help or want to talk!!!! Just email me privately here or off site and I will be glad to help. I wish you all the best
